My practice focuses on family law issues, including dissolutions, parentage actions, legal separation, domestic partnerships, modifications of parenting plans or child support orders, non-parental custody actions, relocations, and adoptions.
I know the economy has hit many families hard. Please feel free to ask me about "unbundled" legal services. This typically means that I am retained on a short term basis to help with a specific goal or event. This type of representation may make legal assistance more affordable for you.
I value thoughtfully negotiated solutions, whether they are arrived at by working one on one with opposing counsel, in mediation, or at a 4-way meeting between the attorneys and their clients. If a matter requires litigation, I arrive at court well prepared and with a strong sense of professionalism.

I can also assist you in your Collaborative case. Collaborative practice is a client-centered method of settling disputes in a respectful, rational manner. Each party has the counsel and protection of his or her own lawyer but has committed to resolving their disagreements out of court. The supportive environment generally results in a cost-effective, durable and amicable settlement. Please see the Resources section below for more information.

I use technology to help me provide cost-effective, fast and personal service to my clients. I am moving away from paper files to storing all file material, where possible, electronically. My clients receive electronic copies of documents promptly, often accompanied by a personal note and case status update. I encourage clients to use email to stay in contact with me.

I received my undergraduate degree at Western Washington University, and my J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon. After law school, I relocated to Bellingham and opened my solo family law practice.
When I’m not at work, I’m usually spending time with my family. During these chilly months, that often means concocting something elaborate in the kitchen or bundling up to take a very spoiled dog for a romp in the park.
